ON THE NEW YAM FESTIVAL:
The new yam festival is a celebration of the farming season and agriculture in general.
People celebrate life and culture during the new yam festival.
Yam is important to the planting and harvesting season as it is a miraculous plant which signifies fertility.
ABOUT THE NDI EZE NUZIJE:
Ndi Eze Nuzije are traditional rulers in diaspora which means Ezes outside Igbo land who see to the affairs of the Igbos in the different areas of lagos (even Nigeria) where they reside ,and are crowned Ezes .
The harmonious living amongst the yorubas and the Igbos is rested upon them.
THE SELECTION & CROWNING OF EZES :
The criteria of selection for a particular local government or local council Development Area is that you must be resident in the area before you are considered.
The council of Ndi Eze Nuzije will meet at the obi Ndigbo,that is the palace of Ezeigbo Lagos State ,HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS IGWE HYCENTH OHAZUKIKE , OON (MKPUME) . Here , they decide his competence , capabilities and what he needs to do before his crowning.

It is a significant annual event that showcases the Igbo culture and tradition . Iriji or yam feast signifies that the planting season was successful and it is harvest time Worth of celebration.
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN OHANAEZE NDIGBO GENERAL ASSEMBLY WORLDWIDE AND NDI EZE NAZIJE :
It is very cordial .we work together to ensure the unification of Ndigbo in lagos State ohanaeze means the people ( OHA) and the Ezes ( Monarch or traditional rulers) .so ohanaeze is a word that combines both parties to work together as one indivisible group.
Lagos State is a settlement for most Igbos ,and ohanaeze general assembly having Chairman in all 57 LGAs and LCDAs of lagos State is strictly ensuring peace and harmony in most area’s, especially in areas of their business.
The ohanaeze acts as mediators ,and where there are issues between and a son of the soil ( even other nationalities) the apex body must mediate expediently to bring about amicable resolution.
The ohanaeze general assembly also liaise between the state govt on behalf of the Igbos.
THE OHANAEZE NDIGBO GENERAL ASSEMBLY WORLDWIDE AND ITS RELEVANCE:
It is the bonafide umbrella body of the Igbos,which is registered with corporate affairs commission CAC of Nigeria ,as a socio_cultural group This means that it has an identity where responsibility , accountability , stewardship are the watchword .
THE SITUATION IN THE SOCIO _POLITICAL CUM ECONOMIC ATMOSPHERE OF SOUTH EAST NIGERIA:
This remains a cause for worry the agitation for the recognition of the Igbo nation is not recent times .
The igbo feel marginalized and thus need to be recognized as an integral part of Nigeria especially in the areas of the youth empowerment , distribution of federal positions / appointments ,and the distribution of infrastructure and amenities.
They believe that equity and fairness must be observed in these directions through dialogue,discussions and inclusiveness so as to avoid restiveness and agitations.
ON THE PRESENCE OF THE LAGOS STATE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE AT THE FESTIVAL :
It was an indication that the Lagos House of Assembly and indeed the lagos State government is committed to the peacefully Coexistence between the Igbos and yorubas ,even others .
The speakers mingle also signifies love and respect for Igbos and culture.
